FRoST Places 7th at ERC 2022 with Maintenance Award
ERC 2022: 7th Place and a Special Award
Kielce, Poland – September 2022. The Frankfurt Robotics Science Team (FRoST) competed at the European Rover Challenge 2022 in Kielce, Poland, finishing 7th overall and receiving the Best Team in Maintenance ON-SITE special award. This marked ARES’s competition debut and FRoST’s return to the European stage after the team’s founding appearance with Horizon XIX at ERC 2019.
ARES Makes Its Mark
After two years of development, ARES proved its capabilities in its first competitive outing. The rover’s 6-DOF robotic arm was a standout performer, handling the maintenance task with enough precision and reliability to earn the competition’s special award for best maintenance performance among all on-site teams.
Results
The 7th-place overall finish, combined with the maintenance award, gave FRoST a strong foundation to build upon. The competition highlighted both the rover’s strengths and the areas where further development was needed, setting clear priorities for the next competition cycle.
